Member Guidelines
MEMBERSHIP
To qualify for membership with Our Lady of Walsingham Homeschool Co-op, you must:

Be an actively homeschooling family with at least one child being homeschooled.

Pay enrollment fees.

Teach one class or assist in two classes every week during the semester.

Assist in the set up or clean up of our meeting space throughout the semester.

Complete Safe Environment Training including background check and fingerprinting.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPECTATIONS
Each job is important in the operation of the co-op. Faithful participation is very important to all of the families and the success of Our Lady of Walsingham Co-op.
Teacher Responsibilities

Prepare for your class, bringing all necessary materials not provided by the co-op.

Communicate regularly with your assistants so they understand the class objectives and activities.

Provide lesson plans, activities, and class materials for your assistants if you are going to be absent.

Communicate with the parents of the students in your class either in person, through our private Signal group chat, email, or through the website.

Submit receipts of class materials purchased for proof that class fee was used for such materials.
Assistant Responsibilities

Engage and interact with the children in the class.

Help the teacher lead activities and pass out materials.

Be prepared to substitute for the teacher in case of an absence.

Keep the teacher aware of the time so that activities do not run over the class period.

Help clean up materials and return them to their proper place.

Guide students outside to recess.
Member Responsibilities

Attend class days consistently and regularly.

Communicate with the program director and appropriate teachers/assistants about planned and/or unplanned absences.

Serve in your role during class days and offer help where needed.

Teach one class or assist in two classes per semester.

Check the Signal group chat and forum regularly to keep abreast of information regarding the co-op.

Work with other members to create a positive learning environment for the children.

Your choice to participate in Our Lady of Walsingham Homeschool Co-op means that our Friday classes should be a priority for your family. If your family is absent for three consecutive co-op dates, you will be dropped from Our Lady of Walsingham Homeschool Co-op. Please communicate clearly with the Leadership Team regarding your family’s situation.
Student Expectations

Students should come to the co-op ready to learn and participate in class.

No excessive noise, screaming, shouting, or running in the building.

Students are expected to be on time for classes.

Students are expected to attend the classes in which they are enrolled.

Students are not to use cell phones, tablets, hand-held games, or other similar devices during co-op class times, unless research is being conducted which pertains to the lesson being given. If a teacher requires the students to use a device, parents must be made aware prior to the class.

Students must be respectful of all other students and adults, as well as be cooperative with others in the co-op. This includes not cussing or using rude language.
Safe Environment, Background Check and Live Scan
It is the Church and State’s policy for anyone working with children to have a Safe Environment and Background check. This is a routine procedure and involves going to the websites and following the directions. We provide more details about how to fulfill these requirements on the "Church and State Volunteer Requirements" page.

Complete the Ordinariate Safe Environment Training course. This is free of charge and will need to be completed every 3 years.

Complete the required steps for a background check within the Ordinariate. At the moment, this is $28 and is required every 5 years.

Complete the California state training. This is free of charge.

Complete the live scan by going to a live scan service location.

Holy Martyrs will also have an in-person safe environment session.
